SS16: MIKKELSEN FLIES LIKE A CONDOR
Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC) was the fastest driver on the first pass through Copina-El Cóndor (16,43km) at the beginning of the last day of the YPF Rally Argentina 2018. The most emblematic stage of the competence was done for the first time reversed and and uphill, although that doesn’t seem to have an influence on the performance of the World Rally Car drivers since the Norwegian driver was only two seconds slower than the best time registered last year on the same stage but going downhill.
The Hyundai Shell Mobis WRT driver completed the stage with 13:09.5 and got over Sébastien Ogier (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) by 0.5. Ott Tänak (Toyota Yaris WRC), who is the leader on the overall and is firmly heading to a third victory on the FIA World Rally Car, got the third place.
With only two stages left, the overall is led by the Estonian driver from the Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT team who is 49.0 ahead Thierry Neuville (Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC), while on third place comes Daniel Sordo (Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC), 1:11.0 away from the lead.
Nothing is settled on the WRC2. Pontus Tidemand (Skoda Fabia R5) got the best time on the stage and is now 13.3 closer to Kalle Rovanperä (Skoda Fabia R5). On the overall, the Finn driver keeps the lead although the time difference between the two drivers is now of only 9.9.
