SS15: SORDO FINISHED THE DAY IN TOP 3
Daniel Sordo (Hyundai i20 WRC) won the last special stage of Day 2 in YPF Rally Argentina 2018, and after taking advantage over Kris Meeke delay (Citroën C3 WRC), he reached the third position on the overall. In the general classification, Ott Tanak went on unbeatable after the second loop at the longest SS of this edition: Cuchilla Nevada-Río Pintos (40,48km).
The Spanish driver of Hyundai Shell Mobis WRT achieved 24:03.0 (the road was without fog). He was 30 seconds faster than Tanak’s morning time. The second position was for Esapekka Lappi (Toyota Yaris WRC), with 6.7; meanwhile, Thierry Neuville (Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC) completed the top 3 with 7.4. It wasn’t the best stage for Kris Meeke (Citroën C3 WRC). The British driver had a tire puncture and lost almost 2 minutes and a half. Because of this, he fell at the eighth position on the overall.
After Day 2, Tänak kept the lead on the overall with 2:58:33.9. Neuville is second with 46.5, while Sordo is in the third place with 1:08.2. Sébastien Ogier (Ford Fiesta RS WRC), 1:59.0 away from the lead, and Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC), away from the first place, completed the Top 5.
